We run around 20 broodmares on the ranch. In addition to the homeraised daughters of our own stallions that are now joining the band, many of our mares are own daughters of noteworthy stallions, including Boonlight Dancer, Grays Starlight, Two Eyed Red Buck, Royal Fletch, Mecom Blue, Hes A Peptospoonful, Lowry Star and Bugsy Superstar, and the good ranch sires from Joe Kirk Fulton's horse program. Most (but not all) of our mares are introduced below.
For the majority of the year, our mares run together in one of the prettiest pastures of the ranch and we'd love to show you around! Stop in for a visit if you are ever in our neck of the woods.
Boonlight Dancer is a red roan stallion from the Polo Ranch who has earned over $136,000 in his career under saddle as a reined cow and cutting horse. In addition to winning the 2001 NRCHASnaffle Bit Futurity, he has sired offspring earning in excess of $1.5 million and one of his leading sons, Third Cutting, was named the 2009 Equi-stat #3Leading Open Money-earner. Our daughters of Boonlight Dancer are all athletes, and have had varying degrees of cowhorse training under saddle.
Starlight has become something of an icon in our broodmare band. Her foals have universally had the most willing and easy mindsets that you could ask for, making them family favorites all the way from halterbreaking to full-time riding. Starlight has crossed well on any stallion and we look forward to many more years with her and her line.
Dosey is a gentle, athletic individual with extra roan color and a sharp mind. She is cowy and well broke to ride, and has been in our broodmare band for a little more than a decade. Her babies come with her mind and strong genetics- you can pick them out of the pasture by their resemblance!
Jim Bower has raised good ranch and rope horses for many years, most notably his roan stallions, Lowry Star and Lowry Star Jr. When he announced his retirement and dispersal of his broodmare band, we were able to purchase several of our favorite mares from his herd and bring them into our program. These mares have produced nice foals with a lot of substance, size and looks.
A pretty gray daughter of Bugsy Superstar, crossing well on any of our stallions.
Born the spring after Lowry Star died, Delilah is one of the last of her kind. We've had her for over a decade now and have come to expect her offspring to be thick-boned, strong-bodied and able to get along.
A favorite producer! Cowgirl typically stamps her foals with a heavy hip and a good head, both mentally and physically.
Royal Fletch is an NCHA Open Futurity Champion, earning $235,852 and putting down a record-earning score of 229 points in his 2000 futurity run. A 2011 NRCHA Top 25 and an All-Time Leading Sire whose foals have earned more than a million dollars. He's consistently sired champions in the cutting, reined cowhorse and reining events, siring top 5 finalists in the NCHA Non-Pro Super Stakes, Derby and Classic/Challenge, as well as NRCHA money-earners. His granddam, Royal Blue Boon, has been the #1 all-time leading cutting producer since 1995. One Time Royalty, a half-brother through the dam to our mare Royal Wedding Belle, set the all-time NCHA Futurity Open Championship record with 230 points!
In 2000, Belle's sire (Royal Fletch) won the NCHA futurity and set a new record with a score of 229 points. Ten years later, Belle's half brother through the dam (One Time Royalty, out of Royal Serena Belle) won the same futurity and surpassed even Royal Fletch by scoring 230 points. In addition to producing this standout son, Belle's mother went on to produce numerous other money-earning cowhorses.
Started in cutting herself, Belle was only lightly shown in the local circuits before coming home to the broodmare band. Here on the ranch she is known for her easy-going temperament and intelligent, cowy and sensible offspring.
Chic joined the broodmare band after being started on our place as a young mare. Her babies often display her compact cowhorse frame and intelligence.
Our "Cowhorse Legends And Welcome Additions" group includes our homeraised mares (including granddaughters of Playgun, Grays Starlight and Peppy San Badger) and own daughters of Mecom Blue and Two Eyed Red Buck.

This little sorrel mare has given us many good youngsters over the years. Especially when crossed to our Playgun sires, she has thrown nearly identical siblings, some of whom have gone on to be rock solid in our saddlehorse program and some of whom we've started and kept back for the broodmare band. See several of her daughters further down on this page.
Bred, born and raised here, Dixie was a cinch to start under saddle and is establishing herself as a producer in the mare band as well.
Born and raised at our place, Goldie has been a nice broodmare for us. She has thrown over and above her fair share of color including buckskins and palominos, which never hurts anything when everything else about the foal is good too!
Out of our own daughter of Grays Starlight, we had an eye on Chloe as a broodmare prospect from the start, but when a rattlesnake bite brought her saddlehorse future to an end, we settled on giving her a try in the mare band. Several foals later, we like what we're seeing and think she's here to stay.
A full sister to Chloe, Baretta has thrown incredibly consistent babies! Her two year olds have been popular in our spring sale and we will keep a couple back for full-time riding as well.
Born and raised here, Epic is best known for her size! Standing 14.3 hands and weighing 1250 lbs, she is thicker than any other Cat we've seen. Easter babies receive their fair share of stoutness but have possessed an uncommon amount of ability for their larger frames, and good minds to boot.
